Dot Hub FAQ.

Got questions about customizing your Glyph Matrix? Find the answers below.

Compatibility

What devices are compatible with Dot Hub?

Dot Hub is designed specifically for Nothing Phone owners to utilize their rear LED interface. The app is compatible with the Phone (3) and the Phone (4a) Pro. Please note that while features like the Ultimate AOD and Music Visualizer work perfectly on both devices, certain tools like the Glyph Compass, Glyph Counter, and Breathing Tool are exclusively compatible with the Phone (3).

Can I install Dot Hub on non‑Nothing phones?

No; Dot Hub is designed specifically for Nothing Phones that support the Glyph Matrix display (for example Phone 3). The app will either not show correctly or not work at all on devices without a compatible Glyph Matrix.

Dot Hub Pro

What is Dot Hub Pro?

Dot Hub Pro is a paid subscription tier within the Dot Hub app that gives you access to advanced options and personalization features (for example more control over the Music Visualizer behavior and more animation styles). The base app and most Glyph Toys can still be used without a Pro subscription.

Why a subscription and not a one-time purchase?

I view Dot Hub as a continuously evolving project rather than a finished product sold once. I am constantly building new Glyph Toys, fixing bugs, and maintaining compatibility with the latest Nothing firmware. A subscription model is the best way to keep this long-term development sustainable.

Here is why I chose this path:

  • No Ads, Ever: I want to keep the app lightweight and private. A subscription allows me to avoid intrusive ads or tracking, ensuring the experience stays clean for everyone.

  • Focus on Features: Structuring the app for a one-time purchase would require a massive internal rewrite. I’d much rather spend that time developing new features like the Music Visualizer or Ultimate AOD.

  • Keeping it Accessible: By having a "Pro" tier for supporters, I can keep the core app and most tools free for the community. It’s a "thank you" lane for those who want to fund the project's future.

TL;DR: The subscription model aligns with my goal of steadily improving the app without ever compromising your privacy with ads.

Support & Feedback

How should I report bugs or suggest features for Dot Hub?

Please use the Feedback and Support button in the settings menu within the app to reach out directly.

Music Visualizer

Does the Music visualizer work with Bluetooth devices?

Yes! It works with speakers and headphones as long as the speaker or headphones don't use hardware acceleration. For example, the nothing headphones do work as long as spatial audio isn't activated.

Why does the Music Visualizer not work?

Please make sure to give the permission to record Audio. If you're listening with speakers and headphones, make sure they don't use hardware acceleration.
